We Love Lagers

About Our Reviews

We are straightforward people. We really enjoy lagers. We review lagers because we really enjoy them. Expect honest and hyperbolic reviews.

THE Coors Banquet Beer, Golden, CO

Does this look familiar? Coors Banquet may be the ultimate lager. It's the first beer you have in your fridge after you move for the 8th time in your 20s. It's one of the coldest, most rewarding sips a man can have. Coors Banquet is the beer of accomplishments.

Mountain Fresh Rainier, Formerly of Tumwater, WA

Loved by politicians and MBAs alike (thats diversity!), and whether you pronounce it "Ran-ye" or "Ray-neer", this beer is clean and crisp like the Northwest coast. Perfect for the ski lift to the top of Mt. Bacherlor or while floating the Sun River. Drink in (some) excess.

Of Knights and Men, Budweiser Light, St. Louis, Mo

Coming soon! This is harder than you think.

Budweiser, An American Classic, St. Louis, Mo

The King of Beers, and an American icon. Budweiser uses rice and beechwood in the production process, which gives it its unique taste among American lagers. Also known for the brand’s signature Budweiser Clydesdales, whose original purpose was to deliver beer after prohibition, this lager is classic and consistent, like the gentlemen who have enjoyed it for nearly two centuries.

Strong, Consistent Busch Beer, St. Louis, MO

Busch: the everyman’s beer. Produced by Anheuser-Busch, this beer was created after Major League Baseball denied the St. Louis Cardinals new stadium name “Budweiser” after Anheuser-Busch acquired the naming rights, because of the association to beer. They compromised on “Busch Stadium” after the family name, and a few years later Anheuser-Busch coincidentally created a new standard lager offering: Busch. Perhaps more well know by its light version (Busch “Latte”), Busch is as strong and consistent as the Midwest cornfields that produce its ingredients and the farmers who tend those fields while consuming Busch.

A Beer for Friends, Modelo Especial, Mexico City, Mexico

Modelo Especial (Spanish for “special”) certainly is a special lager, having recently become the best selling beer in America. Apparently peeling away that annoying gold foil on the cap is an acceptable hurdle to enjoy this Mexican beer. Crisp, clean, and easy drinking, this lager deserves to be in the beer rotation of your fridge.

Ol' Reliable Narragansett Lager, Providence, RI

The grain of this beer was sung a sweet lullaby by the corn hole gods to help your skills in competitive beer garden games. To provide a sacrifice and improve your favor with the gods of corn hold, drink this smooth, smooth lager.

Anchors Up with Pacifico Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico

Is this technically a Mexican-style Pilsner? Perhaps, who knows. But what the People do know is that Pacifico, also know by its alternative name “La Cerveza del Pacifico” (Spanish for “The beer of the Pacific”), is as clean, crisp, and refreshing as any lager on this site. Though it has been in production since the early 1900s in Mazatlán, Mexico, this beer gained popularity in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s when California surfers brought it to California during the Golden Age of Surfing. Since then, this reliable lager has maintained its popularity as a go-to beer for coastal soirées, enjoying street tacos, or just taking the cap off with your teeth. "Live Life Anchors Up" with Pacifico.

An Essential Compass for Exploration in the American Northeast, Boston, MA

Light enough for your "toes in the water, ass in the sand" moment, but with enough depth to lend itself to a squabble among friends on game night, the Essential Compass is like the double-trigger paddle shifters on the original McLaren MP4-12C, it excels in any situation and works perfectly. Get you some deliciousness.

Get a lil' funky with Purple Haze, Abita Springs, LA

They say if you put your ear up to an empty bottle of Purple Haze, you’ll hear the brass of a Mardi Gras marching band inside. With a touch of raspberry sweetness and a bready, delicately refreshing malt finish coming together in perfect lager harmony, this New Orleans classic from the fairytale swamp town of Abita Springs, Louisiana can be enjoyed any time, any place. Whether you’re hunched over a dimly lit stand up oyster bar, sucking down a bag of crawfish on a hot sunny day, trying to spice up your lager game without going too crazy, or perhaps kicking back on the sand dunes of the Outer Banks while wild horses gallop through the waves, Purple Haze never fails to pull you out of a funk or get your hips shaking when you wanna get funky.
